Move with Pets
Moving to another country with your pet/s? Are you worried about the relocation process? Don’t be! Just prepare well for it and plan a pet-friendly move.
The First Steps
The first thing that you must do is draw up a moving schedule. Movers should be apprised of this schedule as you want to stick to it. The next step would be to consult the vet and apprise him/her of your proposed move and the schedule therein. Your pet might be suffering from a condition that may get exacerbated due to the move; hence you must consult the vet about the precautions to be taken.
Some people sedate the pet. This is a good idea if you are going though a process of international moving. In such cases travel by flight becomes a necessity and pets might not take to this mode of traveling. If they are traveling with you, a sedative might be given; however, if the pet is traveling in the cargo area then, the use of sedatives should be avoided.
The Right Carrier
Whether it's a dog or a cat, or any other pet, it's important that you get a carrier for purposes of moving the pet, and it should be carrier of perfect size. Some movers might be conversant with the process of moving pets and they might be able to offer you some tips in this regard. When it comes to the carriers, there is a restriction on maximum carrier measurements. This is true in the case of international moving by plane, ship, or even train.
